The Standard Biergarten, a proper German concept, only not. It’s a garden, yes, under the High Line, which offers a certain architectural shade. Plenty of picnic tables for those who appreciate the communal, or the lack of personal space, depending on your perspective. Patrons here seem to stand more than they sit, a testament to the American inability to fully commit to leisure. Go when the High Line above casts a long shadow.
