Jury Duty

Tribeca’s Civic Center, a place for civic duties and perhaps, civic disinterest, houses a courtyard patio here. A cocktail bar, one assumes, is somewhere nearby, providing the supposed “lusty” element. It’s less a destination and more a happenstance, a convenient pause between jury selection and whatever comes after. You sit, you drink, you contemplate the American insistence on doing both simultaneously. This courtyard invites a mid-afternoon visit, when the sun is a gentle suggestion, not an oppressive command.
